I was bored stiff at the beginning... granted I didn't watch The Nun (1)... but that shouldn't be a reason for not quite understanding the premise of the story. I only kind of woke up at that magnificent magazine-pages-turning sequence. An inspired 'action' sequence, I must say. And that African American wannabe-nun... I forgot... it is modern Hollywood... we got to represent, no? Oh, the unnecessary mean-girls-in-danger part... just to make the movie longer, I guess...
