13 Reasons Why. This show went into a dark place of reality many of us in society refuse to acknowledge or stray away from as these dark places are so often given the negative connotations of being "mature", "too dark", "too sensitive", "triggering" and so many other words that give this dark place the very thing that in the first place made people see it as dark. The show tackles concepts of rape, bullying, depression, suicide and mental health. Several of these things have never been put into a show (or a book for that matter as 13 Reasons Why was a book turned into a show) as they have been seen as of course the aforementioned negative connotations so it would be inappropriate to watch on television supposedly. Rather than being inappropriate to watch, the show sheds much-needed light into the world of a teenager. A teenager who on the surface might be angsty, rude, depressing, horrible and tough to deal with. That is a teenager who has been pushed over the edge to the unbearable point of suicide from bullying, false love, false friends, damaging popularity, sexual assault and those 13 reasons why. The 13 Reasons as to why a young girl slit her wrists and let blood flow. The 13 Reasons as to why a memorial is on a girl's locker that used to be opened five days a week. The 13 Reasons as to why a young girl felt it was too much. The 13 Reasons as to why a girl called Hannah who used to work at a movie theater and have crushes on guys and have best friends with nicknames and go to her friend's parties and pick out candy at her favourite convenience store and go to a cafe with her two friends and drink coffee and question weird paintings died. Those tapes are 13 reasons are why that girl Hannah died. And that was translated into a TV show that put you into perspective. It's a show called 13 Reasons Why, by the way. You should check it out sometime. It's pretty cool.
