This show is amazing. I have watched the first episode three times already even though it’s been out two days, and it never gets old.
The only complaint I have is the animation style - some people might not like it, but some people may also find it nostalgic, redolent of older graphics. The animation and character styles are still very expressive, just not as expressive as we’ve come to expect.
With that out of the way, it’s brilliantly written and achieves the bliss point of deep but not too deep, heavy but humorous about it, like it’s in the sweet spot. I showed the first episode to my nephew (5 years old) and he’s this really emotional kid so he was crying because he couldn’t separate himself from the main character - Lorie - of the first episode. I also struggle with anxiety and self-worth like him but it made me laugh and feel better, but he didn’t and that’s on him, I guess, but I digress. I don’t know how to say it, but it’s not supposed to make you sad, but sentient, and then it uplifts you. Like it’s incredible.
I love the metaphors! And analogies. The episode 2 is a bit more for adults than kids, but I’m both, so I’m not complaining. I don’t care about the little kids (9 and under) who might not appreciate the dynamics of episode 2 so on my side it’s still very perfect. A billion stars!!! This should be helpful if you’re contemplating watching it.
