Has a lot of potential but there are a few crucial things that hold it back for me.
Positives: art style. This games artstyle is super refreshing and endearing, having a simplified cartoon/chibi look that's just so damn cute. This also is shown in the map design. There is no place on the map where I feel he devs got lazy. Every part has been made with a theme in mind.
Simplified gameplay Being a top down shooter, aiming, movement and tracking enemies is a lot easier, opening up more players to think on a more strategic level. The gunplay also feels quite nice when it works (I'll get onto that in a bit) having a relatively fast ttk, but not so fast that you feel that you have no time to react. Rolling also adds a pretty neat dynamic, allowing you or your enemy to get to cover quickly, giving gunfights a "cat and mouse" (excuse the pun) dynamic
Monetisation. This game has some amazing monetization. You have the standard "fortnite" template of a daily and weekly item shop rotation and battlepass, but unlike most others in the genre this game allows you to purchase past battlepasses. The premium currency is fairly priced. But the f2p is where it gets interesting. This game offers so many free milestone awards that look great. From outfits, to new animals to weapon skin that gives you a sense of constant progression.
now the negatives
ui: mid match, the ui in this game is godawful. the healthbar above my head is so tiny i can never tell whether my character is fully healed, or how much damage an enemy has done to me, causing a lot of my deaths to feel very cheap, as i'll think im doing better in a gunfight only for an enemy to kill me. this overall makes it hard to gauge how much damage an enemy has done to me as well as making it hard to gauge how many shots i need to kill an enemy. a simple fix to this is adding a larger healthbar at the bottom left of the screen, that shows exactly (in numbers how) much health i have, as well as adding a red rim around the screen when im low on health. looting is also a pain as enemy loot just spews on the ground in a big clump. just adotping the apex method of making a small box on death would work.
gun and loot balance. alot of the guns feel quite unfair in this game. shotguns will near instant kill a lot of the time when in close quarters (and why wouldn't you be in a top down shooter?) while snipers and bows just feel useless, giving no range advantage whatsoever. higher tier loot also seems to vastly outclasses those below them, making it incredibly hard to fight those with better loot making the game making it feel incredibly luck based. take this with a grain of salt however as this issue may be caused by the ui problems along with my own saltiness
