Ben Whishaw is excellent in this role, however the level of cynicism portrayed in the role shockingly contradicts the ethical mindset of the truly dedicated registrars in the NHS. Regardless of the incredible demands of the job, the hours worked, the lack of staff and resources, the lack of respect shown by patients and the public, a truly dedicated doctor never shows disprespect to any patient, regardless of their circumstances. This drama does not truly reflect the hypocratic oath under which medics commit to doing only good, lifelong learning; 6 years of University then 7 years as a trainee, working 13 hour days without a break, often 7 day weeks plus nights with continuous learning, assessments, exams and so on into their mid 30's before moving into consultancy. Portraying the reality would, of course, not make 'good watching'
