Cherilee Sorensen

As a big Jane Austen fan, this movie was a huge disappointment. It’s more of a farce that a true regency work. I liked a few of the characters, but the plot was hard to follow if you don’t know the story. Emma doesn’t have much depth to her character, nor is she portrayed as the strong female character she should be; she comes across as a victim. The chemistry between the couples just wasn’t there except in one scene with Emma and Knightly, and it comes across as more hormones than anything. The most romantic scene in the whole movie (when Knightly declares his feelings) was a disaster. The settings and costumes were beautiful.
