This is a horrible film. The dialogue is awkward, janky and the plot is driven by convenience. At the beginning, you feel unsettled - and you may think this is a purposeful decision by Shymalan, it isn’t. This film is a testament to the dangers of nepotism in hollywood. Saleka is fine, but it’s obvious that without Shymalan’s input, this film would have been scrapped pre-production. It feels like an extremely long advertisement, promoting her identity as a musician but also highlighting her “star power” by casting her in the lead role of do-gooder protagonist.
