Lovely and refreshing Final Fantasy XVI has a great world, an amazing story, and even better characters. The performances are second to none. The combat is interesting, active, & more action-game focused than other final fantasy titles. The music is to die for. And the tone is really going for that gritty medieval feel, which I loved.
The main story is great, though does slow in the middle, due to side quests, but if you push through it or are okay skipping side quests that will help. The beginning and back half are amazing. The side quests are a coin toss between eh and pretty good, with a few actively bad apples, though all are there to explain some aspect of the world to you.
If it seems even vaguely interesting to you, I'd recommend giving it a try, go get sucked into a wonderful story.
