Feel sorry for Shivaji Sawant. Feel bad for Sambhaji Maharaj and his legacy.
From the minute 1, I had an inkling, but was willing to overlook some superman kind of exaggerations. Sat through the whole movie -- it was mostly bakwaas. I would say even Tanhaji movie (which was bad in its own right), was a lot better.
For the record, I am a great admirer of Sambhaji Maharaj and I have read Chhava by Shivaji Sawant as well as Sambhaji by Vishwas Patil. Both books are masterpieces.
The movie wastes far too much time in showing different manners in which guerilla wars are fought. Not just Sambhaji Maharaj performs superhuman feats on the screen, even the very old Hambirrao Mohilay does too. Portraying brave, skilled warriors as having superhuman strength turns them into fictional characters such as Superman and Batman instead of burnishing their legacy. Valuable time in the first 45-60 minutes was wasted behind some useless songs.
Overall the screenplay and direction was pathetic. Actors did a good job with the losing hand given to them.
