While most reviews were positive and I don’t discount that some have had a somewhat negative experience, I will confirm that we had the BEST experience EVER.
My wife was in for what they called an “ outpatient procedure “. Exactly don’t understand why outpatient since that procedure’s protocol was to stay overnight.
Anyway, not to get into every detail and list staffers names
( exemplary and well deserved to mention), we found the experience to be exemplary and Spot On Perfect.
All, and I mean all who we came in contact with were absolutely professional, compassionate and simple fantastic. This was from admitting to discharge.
Years ago, a business owner of a large chain store (we all know) once told me when I complimented his operation and staff with “you must have some training program. Your employees are fabulous”. His reply was, “yes, we do but we start by interviewing and hiring the right people”.He continues to say that their parents were primarily responsible for who they were and we just further hone them through our training program to meet our needs and fit our operation.
I thought, “well said” and never forget his comments.
As it turns out, this gentleman was a founding partner of Home Depot.
The reason I tell this story is because I find that it applies to NYU Langone.
Yes, they’ve hired staff with all the right attributes of compassion, kindness, bedside manners and professionalism.
Dr’s Guth and Thanik hold the same attributes and were wonderful each contributing with their own expertise.
As well, the hospital has a system of notifying family via texts, offering periodic updates of time element of procedure. That is very comforting to know when sitting on “pins and needles“ during that tense period.
I also received a phone call from each doctor after their portion of the procedure was done.
Additionally, notification continues through recovery including when I was able to visit bedside in recovery.
The system they have in place is as they say, runs like
“A fine tuned clock “
So I end with a big
“WELL DONE LANGONE”
and Thank You.
