This entire situation is disappointing and upsetting. I’ve read some reviews where people are saying that we’re “overreacting” and that we’re “embarrassing” or that we’re “proving his point”.
When James Corden said that BTS’ fans are all just “15 year old girls” he said it as a derogatory word with negative connotations. We should not be upset for being called teenage girls. Some of us ARMY’s are teenage girls. It’s the fact that girls and women are consistently and maliciously used as the punchline of jokes and put down for liking something. For those of us ARMY that are young girls - we should not have to be ashamed of our gender or our age. We do not have to put up with your toxic masculinity or your sexism. This reaction is called for. We are ostracized and made fun of constantly for being passionate about something.
I’m tired of being asked “would you rather live without your phone or your makeup for a day?” I’m tired of being made fun of. I’m tired of people constantly, without fail, making me feel unintelligent and aloof because of their own insecurities. Stop projecting your toxicity onto us. Stop using us to make yourselves feel better. Stop taking from us. Stop making us feel bad about doing the same things that you do. Women and girls are so much more powerful than you know. And it’s more than past time that you acknowledge that and change your pathetic behavior.
