this movie was god awful. I binged the first three movies before going to see this one in theaters and it was so terrible. I love this movie series and this director should have never touched it. he had an amazing concept and completely threw up on it and a better director should have picked up the fourth installation. ape societies with their own cultures, customs, art, all of it completely wasted on some stupid human-centric plot. it feels like the writing staff was fired and a new group was hired halfway through the movie because where the hell were any of the central themes. there was barely any conflict and absolutely no emotion behind any of it. we don't really have anything to connect with for any of the characters so it's hard to care when people are captured or killed or whatnot. and why did the apes ride around capturing feral humans on horseback and then we don't see them do absolutely anything with them for the rest of the film? they're not food, slaves, livestock, nothing. we just see one scene of humans being captured by apes and then we never see them again. and Nova? so awful. so obsessed with humans being on top like they weren't killing the planet. how on earth could the history of human and that stupid bunker be preserved so perfectly through hundreds of years of nothing but oral storytelling and a little bit of writing maybe? AND THERE WAS SO MUCH TALKING OH MY GODDDDDD
