[First Pg spoiler free, second on in-depth problems with the story and character dev.]
Literally the only redeemable thing about this game is the graphics, which will be obsolete the second skyrim comes out. The pacing of the story is awful, the characters are uncompelling, and the relationships between them are merely used as a means to elicit an emotional reaction from the audience. The problem with this is that the more time you spend with the characters, the less you like them, save for a few lines of dialogue that reminds one of the first game. The gameplay is average and gets repetitive and bland fast. The Last of Us II is a pile of steaming hot garbage that feels like a vandalism of the original. Unlike the first game, the character development and interpersonal relationships are uninteresting and uncompelling, the mechanics and gameplay are tired and boring, and the post-apocalyptic setting leaves much to be desired. Definitely would not recommend playing.

The idea that not just someone, but an entire team of editors and producers agreed on some of these character and story choices. Killing off Joel, half of the most beloved duo in video game history, and then having the time of the game split between Ellie and Joel's killer is absolutely insane. Abby's entire character arc is a justification for her existence. Through the death of her friends and learning of how Joel killed her father, the attempt to create sympathy for Abby falls terribly short. Despite this, the first part of the game, where Ellie and Dina, her new GF, are hunting abby and her friends is not terrible. It feels justified to hunt down the co-conspirators to Joel's murder, despite the decision to portrayal of Ellie as a villain. Ellie ends up killing almost all of Abby's friends and that is used as justification for Abby's actions, even though Abby's friends were just as guilty of killing Joel as Abby is. Horrible game. Serious Star-Wars sequel vibes. Game-makers should be ashamed for this horrible vandalism of a once great game.
