You know what, I got this game on sale because I just wanted to try it out. I'd heard all the bad reviews and wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The first impression of the game when it starts is not a good one. It is not particularly easy to navigate the menu, and you feel like the virtual store is being shoved down your throat. But, once you get past that and onto the main game it is actually quite engaging.
The character models are not as bad as I thought they would be, I think Thor is the only one that really looks a bit off, the plot is very engaging and the gameplay, while a little repetitive in places is by no means the worst I've ever engaged in.
I wouldn't say it's worth full retail price, but if you can pick this game up 2nd-hand then it's a nice way to pass the time for a couple of weeks.
Given the choice, I would recommend the next gen version. Runs fine on PS4 and Xbox One, but it can get very noisy with the fans during cutscenes.
