I loved this movie and would watch it again. George has a big heart. I love his relationship with Annie his assistant. He calls her his friend and even when she wants to be loyal to him and give him confidential information, he protests and insists that she doesn’t put herself in a position where she might lose her job.
Matty seems to have been with “understanding” women in the past, who hadn’t called him out on having tracksuits and toothbrushes for women at his place. And he seems to fall in love with Lisa because she’s not a yes person. He really tries hard to work at the relationship based on what he understands as being love.
The portrayal of Lisa was amazing. As an athlete she was assertive, decisive and showed little to no emotion about life outside sport. But when she loses her position in the team, she has to find out who she is as a non-athlete. Change can be frightening even for the most motivated person out there.
Biggest take home from the movie was the play-doh analogy. You can be at rock bottom but one small modification can turn things around for you. Keep the faith!
