Law School, as the name implies, is a drama whose story line is on 'law'. It is a Korean drama of 16 episodes which to me, should be regarded as one of the best Korean and legal drama of all time. You will feel like watching it over and over again because of its critical mind-blowing, multiple twisting, genius manipulating and amazing story line. You cannot guess what will happen next in this movie and it has so much suspense.
Given the heavy topic about law as a series, the characters (Kim Bum, Professor Yang Jong Hoon, Kang Sol A, Kang Sol B, Professor Kim Eun Sook, Attorney Park Guen Tae, Seo Ji-ho, and Prosecutor Jin Hyeong-woo) did a great job in playing their respective roles. Determining justice and injustice has been proven to be complex topic where nobody is innocent or guilty until proven by the court, just as shown in the series.
Lessons:
- This drama opens the mind of the viewers on the knowledge of law, justice, and judicial system with an entertaining mode and simplicity.
- It gives hope to every student that thinks of quiting and giving up as they struggle in their respective courses because they think they are not capable.
- It makes the viewers realize that there are also people who are willing to be on their side and help them until they succeed, even though many people are dragging them down.
- It teaches viewers to reflect upon their prejudice in every case and law.
- It makes the viewers realize that a 'bad person' has the right to be defended as far as he or she has not been found guilty in the court of law.
- It clears the assumption that law is only about murder as it touches other fields in law such as defamation of character, child abuse, sexual assault, self-defence, constitution and other civil matters.
Quotes:
- Judge fairly and make sure no one suffers unjustly.
- The law is an imperfect justice, but when you teach law, the law must be perfect and when you study law, it must be synonymous with justice because unjust law is the most cruel violence.
The intriguing part about the series is that most of the scenes are taken from student's point of view (their evidences, their research, their thinking and their decisions), the school, and its environs. The drama presents a lot of lessons that are definitely needed in the society. Also, some of the issues with the law that were presented proved to be true and should be addressed in many jurisdictions.
I was impressed that the script-writer did consider these factors deeply before putting it out.
I don't want to give spoilers on the interesting part of the series and the parts that gave me goosebumps...
I highly recommend this exceptional Korean drama! If you haven't watch it, you're missing a great masterpiece!
