Phillippa Keogh

Past Lives is beautifully filmed, almost presenting a series of tableaux moving from scene to scene. It is gentle and captures the bond between the characters right from the outset, developing from childhood affection to adult longing, especially when the pair are communicating on Skype. It's poignant and sad but wonderful too and the performances of the three main characters, together with the script, which leaves so much unsaid, make for a really special experience.
