One of the best movies I have ever seen. A sobering look at what being held hostage looks like. Evil often doesnt make sense, people arent super heros and youre lulled into danger. Which leads to a fair critisim that the pace was slow and movie was uneventful/illogical. For me thats what makes this a differnt type of horror. Its not many (if any at all) jump scares, few scenes with on screen gore (blood, guts). but the decpiction of how humans can be phsically and psychologically tortured is chilling and our propesisty for evil and hurt goes well past enjoyably terrifying into the relams of disturbing and unnececary. The remote scene made me mad on the first watch through but id challege folks to listen to the last scene between Peter and Paul because for me thats what made it make sense and the remote a core aspect of what makes up the substance of the film.
With all that being said it is fair to see why some folks would see this movie as distubing for the sake of being so, and I would say thats the point. If you want to laugh about how scary the movie was once its over this isnt for you. There wont be any joy felt afterwards other than releif that 2 horus straight of anxiety and anger being done (and I mean that in the best of ways)
