I rate this as a 5 out of 5 star movie because it goes much deeper than just the story line!
For anyone with knowledge of autism, you can see its progression with Robert Howard & it was played perfectly by Vincent D’Onofrio...
And it is obvious what a wonderful person Novalyne Price was, so full of understanding & compassion for him! She was a “spitfire”, but she could see both sides of him & could adapt to him, despite what he said & did! That takes a very special person to know when & what to tolerate, & where to draw the line! Renee Zellweger was excellent! I could see the special deep love each one felt deep inside. And I felt the pain each one suffered!
There are many marriages like that today where one mate is married to someone with Aspergers for years & is wise enough to pick their battles so that they can win the war against divorce, & live happily & loyally for a lifetime. I feel if the knowledge in Dr Kathy Marshack’s books had been available back then, their love story could have been a “happy ever after” book.
It was a good movie...
