This movie depict the struggle of the human race, in a search for greener pasture and a better life have to gamble with choices and these choices leaves us with either a happy ending or a sad one, the reality of life is that you have to do everything to survive, Mateus knew there was no escape route, these men have everybody in their palms, he’s just a bug that can be squashed, he can’t save his friends without them dying, he realized Lucas was also like him, Lucas was groomed to whom he was, so to those saying Mateus had chances to save his friend but chose not to didn’t understand that each and every prisoner had a file of their home addresses and families, it was a risk he knew would fall heavy on his heart, so he did the best and saved himself.
