Great movie! I don’t usually bother with DCEU but they did a good job with this one. Jason Mamoa shines here like no other role he’s played you can tell he is enjoying himself. The movie strays away from the usual edgy DC movies by having a more lighthearted time. You can tell this by how less serious it is compared to something like Batman vs Superman. All that being said it has its pitfalls particularly with storytelling and plot. We don’t know anything about Aquaman so we’re immersed into his life story. This makes the movie pretty long and it may seem like they are cramming two movies into one. The plot is similar to that of Black Panther, most of Thor’s back story, and an adventure like that of Journey to the Center of the Earth. They stole a MCU formula for this one Arthur even gives nicknames like Tony Stark but hey I like MCU movies maybe that’s why I like this one. It has great fight scenes as well and while it lacks a bit of originality I’d say it’s worth watching and it’s good that it looks to setup for a sequel because I feel like Arthur and Mamoa are deserving of one and they have an interesting story to tell.
