Quite honestly, I do not believe that this film has much to do with the cold, solid facts of the royal family, and more to do with the story of a woman struggling with her mental health. I found this movie to be beautiful and uncomfortable, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The most important thing to remember is that you should neither take this movie as fact or base your opinion of Diana on this movie. The character of "Diana" in this movie is not real life. I also found the writing of this movie to be quite blunt at times, and some aspects of the story were a bit unnecessary (i.e. Maggie and her confession of love), but the cinematography and score were gorgeous. The characters were quite flat, only having one emotion they portrayed, and Kristin Stewart acts like an evolved Bella from Twilight. This movie is quite depressing and dark, and you will not sympathize with almost any character in this film. If you were to watch this movie, watch it for the score and cinematography.
