I just finished this book yesterday at 2:30 AM. It took me 2 nights to read this book and I can easily tell anyone that this book was the best one among the other two of Khaled Hosseini which are “The kite runner” and “And the mountains echoed”. I must say that he is a God-gifted storyteller. The words, the phrases, the poetry he used in his books are so thought provoking and you can actually picture his words in front of your eyes. When I reached part four, I literally burst into tears and wanted to close the book but a part of me wanted to continue. So I did. My heart has developed a special connection with Mariam, Laila, and little Aziza. Each word of the book made me feel the emotions, the pain, the suffering and the small moments of joy in their lives. The book has a wide series of every single feeling which includes anger, pain, joy, longing, love, and tears. Molvi Faizullah was one of my favorite character in the whole story, the way Mariam remembered his voice, his trembling hands, his soft words of sympathy and the verses he recited to her from Quran l. The connection between Mariam and Aziza was so beautiful yet so heart wrenching l. It amazes me that how a man managed to write about the sufferings of a woman so finely. If you're thinking about reading this book go ahead. I wish I could give it more starts that just 5. This is one of the books, that stays with you for years and years. The books which teach you so much. Mariam is the only fictional character who made me sob a whole night. This book will always stay in my heart ❤️
