Gotham is an absolutely brilliant TV show. Best Batman interpretation to date. This show has the best portrayals of almost every character: Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Harvey Bullock, Ivy, Falcone, etc. It also explored many characters that other interpretations don't really explore, like Barbara Kean. The show is timeless, combining aspects of many eras with a bunch of peculiar and different characters to create its Gotham city. Riddler is done perfectly, we seem him grow from an awkward nerdy guy to a killer. Penguin is equally as amazing, you can't help but root for him and he steals the show with his mannerisms, unpredictability and how completely unhinged he is. Despite the show not having the rights to the character of the Joker, it still gave us the best Joker. Cameron Monaghan's Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska represent 2 sides of the same coin. The Joker's zany comical nature, and cold and intelligent side, both while being terrifying are represented by each brother, respectively. His portrayal of Jerome is arguably the best Joker to date even, combing every single aspect of the Joker and past interpretation. He has something from every past Joker: Nicholson, Hamill, Ledger, the Joker from the comics, etc. He beautifully combines all the jokers aspects- cooky, comical, deranged, threatening, sadistic, dark, and insane all in one with a perfect laugh. He truly captures who the Joker is. Overall, the show beautifully mixes an incredibly dark tone with wacky, comical moments to perfectly parallel a comic book. It keeps you hooked and the storylines are brilliant. Each character is represented amazingly and the show is everyone's story, not just Batman's/Bruce's. Highly recommend this show, even if you're not a Batman fan.
