It has it's moments, but the plots are pretty painful in their trite predictability. You've been warned.

It has some good folks acting in it, but it's saccharine sweet and loaded with implausible plot points. Sad face.

The mouse puppetry was excellent. The story was abrupt and choppy. The child voice acting was flat.

The animation is often stunning but the story, the narrative, is overly simplistic. Best suited to children I suppose.

Strange to see this film getting scores below 50%. The acting, writing, pacing, storyline… are all solid. It's a tense film, loads of tension. Take it for a spin.

It gets points for faith to source material, but the G should be emphasized over PG. It's very child oriented. An adult will notice the plot holes and strange narrative choices. Yes, for nostalgia you can watch it once and of course the puppetry is masterful. Just adjust your expectations accordingly.

The acting, scenery, editing are all top shelf. None of this is sufficient to salvage the adolescent naïveté of the outline from which these tales were woven. All of the goodness of the mythology of Holmes is turned into the broken and the dysfunctional. These would have been fair enough tales without involving Holmes and Watson. Also, as an aside, some of the music just doesn't fit. It's not awful but you won't be thrilled, especially if you are a fan of Holmes.

Prying against your nostalgia, this short film relies fully on your recognition of the various characters to weave a limp morality tale of uninspiring shallowness. Feel free to skip.
