This wasn’t a bad movie, but it definitely fell short in some key areas. The acting and CGI felt underwhelming at times, with a few scenes that honestly looked like corners were cut—visually and emotionally. Without giving away spoilers, there’s a specific moment toward the end that stood out to me as particularly rushed and low-effort, which pulled me out of the experience.
One thing that really didn’t sit right with me was the quirky tone and awkward humor. That kind of style just doesn’t belong in a Superman film. Superman is supposed to inspire strength, hope, and confidence not feel like he’s in a comedy ensemble. The movie leaned too hard into James Gunn’s signature style, which I don’t think fits this character or his world at all.
To be honest, I think they should have gone with a different director. A lot of the things I didn’t like—the odd tone, the shallow character moments, and the weird pacing can be traced back to Gunn’s direction. He may have a vision for the DC Universe, but I don’t think this was the right story for him to tell.
