Once you pick it up you won’t be able to put it down. It’s packed full of drama and it’s almost written like a play, in that it’s very dialogue heavy with very little ‘stage cues’ - which makes it the fastest book I’ve ever read.
That being said, this book is written so poorly. I honestly - as a non-author - think I could have done a better job.
I found myself rolling my eyes multiple times at the very beginning of the book. The situations the protagonist and the supporting characters find themselves in are unrealistic and the overall plot is lack lustre. But above that, the writing is patchy, forgetful (in the sense that the author seems to backtrack as if she had forgotten to mention something worth mentioning 10 chapters ago) and jarring at times.
It seems to have been written for a YA audience but I don’t even expect a YA audience to need something to be dumbed down in such a manner.
All that being said the ending packs a punch and the story takes you on a journey. I could see this easily being adapted (& beefed up) into a series to be binged on your most hungover day.
Great, easy read for those mindless beach days or like me, whilst travelling but it won’t be earning a lasting place on my bookshelf - will leave it my hostel for the next poor reader.
