I lately started reading Agatha Christie books, and this one caught my attention because of how many times it was mentioned as one of her greatest books of all time. Well with that I started reading it, and I was quite disappointed. I think for like a good 100 pages the actual murderer is not even mentioned (and it is pretty obvious that none of the potential suspects were the actual murderers), so almost half of the book is just useless information. Then a very obviously murderer-like person is mentioned which is way too obvious to turn out to be the killer. And at the end this whole twisted story is presented by Poirot which was actually quite predictable because there were clues that were left by Christie, but since the actual murderer was introduced so late it wasn’t that fun guessing it. So it maybe was just me who found this novel not as interesting as the other works of Agatha Christie, but at least I learned that not everyone will agree on what is a good book or what is not. I’d much rather recommend The Sittaford Mystery, I think it’s way more entertaining if you want to ,,play along” and find the murderer yourself. Although I was a little disappointed and critical, I still think this is a pretty great book but not for my taste.
