I really enjoy the humor of the She-Hulk comics and loved playing her in the original Marvel vs Capcom 3. So when this show was advertised, I was excited to see what they did, especially since they bases it on the great comics that I read. But watching the show was heart-breaking. The first episode was mildly funny, and each episode just got worse than the last. I really like She-Hulk so I felt obligated to watch it all the way through, but hopefully I did this so someone reading this review doesn't have to. The show was anti-humourous, it's almost like they were going out of their way to suck all the fun out of the show. Jokes had no punchlines, or the punchlines were like, ritzy, white girl, wine mom, humor. Every man in the show was inept and needed the help of the lady characters (every man beside Daredevil that was the only OK episode, and I've never seen Daredevil before. The dad was also cool.). Every woman was condescending and vapid. The writing is not good, and not because of what I mentioned above. It wasn't good because it felt like whoever wrote the script had never written one before - and they don't know how people of the opposite sex actually operate with each other. The plot was slow moving and had no action or connective story. The writers didn't seem to know anything about the legal system. She-Hulk was kind of mean, unfunny, and arrogant. She doesnt really grow as a character or as a hero, in fact, shes not a hero - and explicitly states she doesnt want to be one. And you would think the finale would build into some conclusion about how its necessary to use her powers and responsibility as a lawyer for the good of others but theres literally no reason for her to come to that conclusion by the end of the show. This is probably going to make me look like one of the guys they are trying to make fun of - but honestly - I don't care. I'm here to warn you. This show is very bad. In fact, I implore you to watch the first two episodes and gauge how you feel about them. Don't take my word for it on face value. Watch it. Mourn it. And thank me later.
I'm going to go read the old she-hulk now.
