I wanted to like it, I really did. I enjoyed some of the soundtrack (Numan, Joy Division), and I appreciate that the performers did what they could with the script, but beyond a few decent action scenes, the film has very little soul and depth, in my view. I understand it's a re-imagining for the modern audience - I couldn't get over Skarsgard's character wearing Vans (haha), but it just wasn't for me as a fan of the original. I hope that 18+ kids watch this, and are inspired to check out the original - soundtrack, soul and all.
