This book reads like an amateur writer's first attempt at a short story gone incredibly awry. The book comes in at about 250 pages too long. The author exaggerates every good character's traits so that the reader has no choice but to accept that this character is inherently good. And then conversely the author goes to great lengths to overly define the awfulness of the bad characters so as to eliminate any doubt that the character is in fact really bad. It feels like the author doesn't trust the ability of the reader to discern between the good and the bad. Boring and predictable.
