I'm an OG series fan and also read the books. I was very skeptical going into Original Sin right from the announcement, as the vast majoirty of the time, prequel attempts end up a total disaster. Boy was I brilliantly WRONG.
Dexter: Original Sin has been TRIUMPHANT. The recasting of our beloved characters has been splendid, their performances all perfect interpretations of their younger selves.
Multiple subplots we've known about from the original series are given deeper analysis and now carry the emotional weight we need to understand Dexter's makeup with more clarity and appreciation.
I loved the stories and plotlines, and how they were done in Original Sin takes us all back to the original excitement, nervousness and anticipation of Dexter. This barely feels like a "prequel" series, but more like a natural part of Dexter overall.
The shooting, framing, score, locations, casting, writing - SUPERB. Its exciting to know that we have YEARS to time to cover before the original Dexter season 1 timeline began.
My only frustration is that we've already reached Season 1's end. Now we're all salivating for season 2, watching Dexter himself and the people around him develop alongside him.
Even 5 stars doesn't seem good enough. I think the majority of us fans are absolutely THRILLED. Our favourite show continues and our beloved serial killer hero's legend continues to grow.
