Apple TVs Series “HIJACK” is exhibit A in The Consequence of the Modern Culture of Victimization The main character, played by Idris Alba, is weak. The premise is clear - no one is held accountable for their actions because they could not help themselves. He cooperates - with the hijackers and comforts murderers. The writers go out of their way to show that murderers and hijacker are all victims. (Spoiler alert) From the beginning key characters repeatedly show cowardice and a tendency to self preservation with our “hero” as the primary example through his sympathy for the hijackers and me first thinking. In the end the writer and producers make it clear that the real criminal is “capitalism” and everyone else is simply a victim of that system.
