The movie was really good. I got the feeling that both women were passing, one as white and one being a closeted lesbian. I see a lot of people think the casting was terrible because both women clearly look black, which is true, but people have to remember back in the 20s this would have worked. Example lookup Fredi Washington she could have passed during that time, though she refused, the concept of black back then, to the eye, was "dark skin" hell J. Edgar Hoover and Jackie Kennedy along with countless others passed and to a person in the 21st century now that there are countless complexions of "black" we would have been able to see this. Back then white America was not yet use to this.
