I am of the generation that didnt get to read the book. This movie was instructed for us to watch in my American Literature class. (I guess our teacher would rather us at least watch it than pretend to read it and get all our info from Chatgpt - which some most likely still did.) I found the movie heart wrenching in the best way. It greatly showed that the American Dream can be unattainable, esp for those only riding on hope and romance such as Gatsby. I had a mix of emotions after finishing, anger towards Daisy and Tom, sadness for Gatsby and a shared hollowness with Nick. It is a movie that has left a mark on my heart and will not be forgotten.
The music was phenomenal, aside from some modern day pop that could've been left out. I also greatly enjoyed the script. There are a lot of mic drop moments within it. Overall, the movie provokes a depth of emotion and thought. Well done.
