For a historical documentary this is so factually incorrect it's embarrassing. It's more a soap opera than actual facts. Rasputin is given so much of a larger role that it's comical. Russia had already signed an alliance with Britain and France prior to WWI, so the decision to go to war was already set. They act like Rasputin said no and they were pained as the Romanov's had german blood. The war caused instability in the russian economy and their downfall. It would have been a much more interesting documentary if they actually stuck to the historical facts. England and France had approached Russia for an alliance against Germany as they were concerned about their gains in the East in particular on the borders with Persia and India. The war caused instability and the toppling of the Czar's. The Germans helped bring Lenin in and the Bolshevik revolution happened resulting in the formation of the USSR.
