Don't watch television much, but sometimes in the afternoons I'll watch North Woods Law and the wife and I are amazed at the Maine wardens. Did these guys go to the Lavrentiy Beria school of interrogation? "Show me the man, I'll find you the crime."
Everyone is approached as a criminal and they'll keep picking until they find some kind of violation and it doesn't matter if the subject of their attention is highly cooperative, they'll use that cooperation against them. If no violation is found, they'll still issue a stern warning in the most aggressive manner possible. Maybe every single sportsman in Maine is a scofflaw and a poacher and that would explain their actions?
As a lifelong hunter and fisherman in Arizona I've had nothing but great interactions with our game wardens who are friendly and approach everyone with respect. Usually a quick check of the license and a little friendly conversation is the extent of it. The only respect I see on North Woods Law is usually a ruse to put the people at ease before the intense interrogations and searches begin. How do you people live like that?!!
