I finally watched Acrimony and I must say that I really really enjoyed it.
I will admit that even though Taraji was the initial draw for me, I still waited so long to watch because:
1. Tyler Perry’s movies are usually about a scorned woman who seemingly cannot make without a man. That alone continues to be a turn off for me for his movies and plays, so I was reluctant.
2. Social Media reviews bordered on “don’t waste your time and money”.
3. Critic reviews were harsh, as they are with most Perry movies.
But here it was on HBO so I figured why not.
Tyler not being in it was helpful.
Taraji did not disappoint and did an excellent excellent EXCELLENT job 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽.
The storyline was allllllllll too real. A woman who sacrificed so much who later becomes enraged and quite frankly deranged, when she believes that now she was getting the short end of the stick.
Personally I would have taken what was given and skipped about my merry way.
But again when deranged one can’t do that.
I think the ending on the yacht was definitely over the top and really uncalled for. I also felt it was unfinished...did he die?!
Nonetheless I enjoyed the movie and give it an 8/10.
