First off, why are people saying it’s in Portuguese? I watched it in English and it’s not dubbed so idk why people are saying that. I think the show is trying to be ‘Sopranos’ but used Irish instead of Italian to differentiate it. The premise is there’s a guy who’s a state representative who works with organized crime a bit on the side. He has a brother ‘3 part Mike’ (the judge, jury, and executioner) that had to go on the lamb for 6 years bc there was a hit out on him. The guy who had the hit gets killed so he comes back into the picture and wants to take over the town and run organized crime. Drama ensues when he has to balance his life and not get in his little brothers way and avoid the feds. The acting is decent enough, the stories are good but not great, and the production value is very good. Surprised it only lasted 3 seasons but at the time there was a lot of competition in the genre. If this show came out earlier or more recently it would have had more success, especially with streaming. It’s in my top 10 below ‘The Sopranos’, ‘The Wire’, ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘The Deuce’, and a few others. I’m watching ‘BMF’ and ‘Dopesick’ right now and they’re both a little better than ‘Brotherhood’ but this show is worth watching if you’ve seen all these other shows. Don’t expect too much action but it has enough to keep you involved if you enjoy the crime drama genre.

I think AHS creators sold out when they agreed to let this show be made. They probably just had some friends that said ‘I could write an episode, I have a great idea for an AHS episode.’ So they let their friends Wire and produce an episode each, maybe and the end result is pure garbage. The ‘bro house’ episode I think it was called ‘The Naughty List’ was kind of funny, besides that one none are worth watching. The episode about the Yeti where the kid goes missing is about the worst piece of trash I’ve ever seen. Don’t consider this a part of AHS, but just a money making scam where Ryan Murphy probably hooked up a few friends with work.

First off I want to say that I watched the original series growing up. I’m a 40 year old White male and I really tried to like the reboot, but I couldn’t. It was forced like Forrest Gump where everything was thrown in from history for nostalgia. The only people that will enjoy this are the following: people who don’t know what good writing/tv is, black people who grew up in the sixties, and anyone that likes Tyler Perry. It’s supposed to be funny, it’s not at all. I didn’t laugh once, I scoffed at how bad it was a few times. I like Don Cheadle as a narrator, besides that there’s nothing good about this show. As someone who likes sitcoms like Friends, Fresh Prince, King of Queens, Raymond, Seinfeld, etc., this show won’t last long so if you like it enjoy it while it lasts.

I’m not going to go into the plot I’ll just tell you that if you go into this with an open mind and you know movies this is just an awful one. The incessant need of the writers to tie in the show to this prequel really hurt the script. I understand that they had to do it this way but all the extra things really hurt it. Chris saying that Tony would end up killing him years later not ‘far from here’ was pointless. There was too many stories going on at the same time and the writers had a tough time developing characters. If this would have been a show I feel like it would have been more successful. The acting is bad, the cinematography is bad, the quality is bad, there’s really nothing good about this movie except Mike Gandolfini playing his real-life fathers younger self. Other than him and a couple other small parts it lacked…. Everything. If you’re on here and you’re seeing good reviews then either the person is an idiot who isn’t a movie buff, or they’re friends with someone that’s involved in the movie. I’m serious, it’s that bad of a film and I really suffered with the decision of watching the whole thing. It was like a heart monitor, going steady for awhile then right before I turned it off something would happen. It’s bad, but if you’ve made up your minds to watch it then nothing I can say is going to stop you.

Besides the opening title song (for the first two seasons) the there’s only one bad thing about watching this show. Once it’s over there’s nothing that is as good. A look at the war on drugs from all different perspectives in urban Baltimore this show was way ahead of its time. Everything about the show is amazing, it may start a bit slow as the viewer gets to know the characters but it definitely won’t disappoint. I won’t talk about specifics like other reviewers do because people who read reviews don’t want to read the script of the show they want to know if it’s worth watching. If you like gangsta movies, police dramas, crime dramas, or don’t really have a specific taste in genre but just like good television this will tickle your fancy. I also watched David Simons other HBO drama ‘The Deuce’ which has a lot of the same cast as ‘The Wire’. I went in a little weary because I didn’t think it would be even close to as good as it’s predecessor but I was wrong. I think it’s equally as good in its own way and the costs must have been astronomical with the great cast and the amazing sets. Highly recommend both of them for binge watching but they’re both addictive.

Don’t waste your time with this show! It’s like a white version of a Tyler Perry sitcom (Meet the Browns, House of Payne). The set is really generic, besides Anne the rest of the acting is abysmal. The guy playing her husband isn’t a great actor, he’s a bad version of Kevin James or the Mike from ‘Mike & Molly’. The idea of shifting from a sitcom to a dark comedy is interesting but it doesn’t work. I don’t really want to go from laughing (or in this shows case not laughing) to watching darkness and murder fantasy. It would’ve been better if it stayed dark the whole time with some jokes. This show will not make it more than a few more episodes at the most, and nobody will miss it.

I’m 38 and a movie buff and when I realized what the plot of this movie was I really couldn’t believe that anyone agreed to make it. Also, that Mel Gibson agreed to be in it but given his situation in Hollywood I guess that’s not too far-fetched. Someone hiring a hit man to kill Santa for giving him coal? The military using Santa’s workshop and elves to manufacture fighter jet parts? The only reason I gave it two stars is the brilliant villain hit man was great and vicious, showed no regard for human life, no remorse, no sympathy, he was good. But who read this script and said ‘Yes, let’s make this movie’? It would’ve been better if it was a joke, if it was really a comedy. Then they have Mrs Claus played by a black actress? Why would they do that except to try to repair Gibsons racist image? It was just confusing and I’m still baffled that any studio executives agreed to budget this movie.
