Some great cinematography, some good acting, you just need to be able to ignore some poor casting (Anna Churina - shocking) and some very distracting mismatching of voice-to-facial expressions during the dialogue- it is so weird, it seems like dubbing but on researching it appears some actors were talking in English, some Russian and some Chinese so only partial dubbing. I had personally first thought that there had been a catastrophic error during filming that had to be rectified with the dubbing but then when witnessing a scene with Charles Dance being perfection as always v Anna Churinas awful frozen top lip, squeaky voice and random lip movement that didn't match what you were hearing it became apparent that something else was afoot. There is no logic as to why they chose to do this but If you can choose to see past this and some cheesy acting moments and you are not paying to watch it (or at least no more than the 99p I spent on Prime) then you may be able to give it the benefit of the doubt. Without expecting Shakespearean dialogue and being prepared to over look the illogical dubbing this can be an okay enjoyable film to watch with the family as there are so few options for these types of movies that are a 12 area rating. The kids (11 / 14) enjoyed it although conceded that it would’ve been even better without the dubbing effect that they were also trying to ignore. The CGI is not as bad as some make out (I guess they have never attempted to watch Halle Berry in Catwoman nor some of the really poor CGI in scenes in Man of Steel and Spider-Man). It is a shame that the obvious issues with the production were not rectified or recognised before release as this could have been such an epic film. If you choose to enjoy it you can (with some subtle altering of where you focus - not the lips, look at the top of the head!) and if you are looking for a fairly decent new family adventure film to watch together to pass an evening then this is worth a view, even if you just chose to dissect and discuss the odd bits and where you can’t quite put your finger on as to what went wrong......
