Gonna be honest, as someone who got into the series starting with Ys 7 on the PSP years ago, this has to be my least favorite in the series. I loved Ys 7, Ys Oath in Felghana, Ys Origins, Ys Memories of Celceta, and Lacrimosa of Dana which was a beautiful game. Going from Lacrimosa of Dana to Monstrum Nox was a huge difference. I only gave it 3 stars because the game visually was nothing mind-blowing or memorable. I mean the story was based around a prison city. Secondly, the story was not that interesting to me. The whole monstrums and gifts system did not interest me much and found myself only beating it because I love the gameplay. Let's be honest, that's what we love most about Ys games, is their story and gameplay. Ys 9 was lacking in the story department yet interesting enough to finish the game. I wouldn't replay it. I'm replaying Ys 8 lacrimosa of dana now but on the ps4 this time instead of my PS Vita
