This film is as bloated as its main character. Yes, Brendan Fraser puts in a solid performance, but hardly the kind of noteworthy, mind-blowing performance the media has been making it out to be. It is hard to feel sympathetic to the characters when they have so few redeeming qualities. Pure Oscar bait.

Promising premise and reasonable performances by the cast but overall the film falls a bit short of the mark. The payoff is predictable and the final action is too rushed to build any tension. Watchable but not worth going out of your way to see.

Emma (Megan Fox) wasn't particularly endearing which makes it hard to care too much about the fate of the main character. The villains came across as a bit of a poundland version of Harry and Marv. Watchable but certainly not memorable. Oh, and I know you have to suspend reality for these kinds of films but surely you could just smash the bones in his hand to slide the handcuff off? You don't need a sharp object to lob his arm off or cut the chain.

Stephen Graham at his absolute best. Great acting and directing (the entire film being one single, continuous take adds to the tension). I've never worked in a restaurant but know many top chefs and this sounds like a pretty realistic representation! Well worth a watch.

I don't know whether it is the influence of Netflix or making the content a bit more geared towards an American audience but it falls way short of what you would typically expect from Charlie Brooker. It felt tired & lazily put together.

A generic/cliche action plot that is a dime a dozen. It is not that this is a bad film, it just isn't a particularly great one either. The strong cast play the characters well but you never really feel emotionally connected to their story. If you're bored and have nothing better to do then this film could hit the right spot. If you're looking for a memorable film that will take you on a journey then give this one a miss.

This film is chaotic and loud to the point of inducing a migraine. The main character, Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler) is intensely annoying and unlikable. The film is certainly 'different' but I struggle to see how/why it has got such rave reviews.

A franchise film will always be compared to the other films in the series. With this in mind, Men in Black International is by far the worst of the bunch. The film seriously misses Will Smith's comic timing, energy and charm. The plot was also very loose which you can often get away with if the action scenes make up for it but even they lacked any wow factor. Liam Neeson was also completely wasted as a bit part character. We are seeing an elevated role for female characters in Hollywood post #metoo but more often than not it feels like it has been executed purely to follow the trend than anything else (particularly the weak feminist overtone). Tessa Thompson did an ok job but the character was pretty bland. It might be worth watching to fill an evening when it eventually arrives on Netflix but die hard fans of Men in Black will want to give this one a miss.
