I’m a huge fan of mystery books and TV mystery series. Father Brown is a delight and a much needed palate cleanser after watching “Endeavour”, “Ripper Street”, “Silent Witness” and the like. Mark Williams is perfectly cast as Father Brown. If only every religious leader could be as wise, kind and empathetic as he is! His ability to cue into other people’s body language, facial expressions and personal struggles makes him the perfect detective because he catches many clues that the “professionals” don’t. Long live Father Brown, dearest Mrs. M, Bunty, Sid, Lady Felicia and the village of Kembleford!

I’m speechless. This is the most powerful film that I’ve seen in a very long time. Viola Davis is stunning as Ma Rainey. Chadwick Boseman, especially in the scene when he talks about his mama’s God, ripped me up inside. The ending was emotionally devastating. I’ve been crying nearly non-stop since the end of the film. If he doesn’t win a posthumous Oscar it will be the greatest injustice in Oscar history.
