Although I respect the amazing ability to summit so many times...the main character I had a difficult time connecting with especially when she said 'I am not humble...no, im not humble!' It broke my heart seeing one of her daughters suffer so much from trauma and her response was not to listen to her daughter's pain but to tell her to "Be Strong". This is not what i think we should only celebrate in women...but also women who over come and are able to listen to their daughters trauma and pain and not dismiss it by being "strong." that scene in the movie was heart breaking. I work in mental health so am really sensitive to the narrative that if a woman is strong and shows her strength then she is 'ok'...its very clear the generational trauma is not healed by simply 'being strong". I love people who overcome and are Humble...when did we stop celebrating virtuous characteristics in individuals ...i love it when the main character is strong and humble. Everyone loved this film but my dog who is a bad ass had more humility than the main character.
