Clearly inspired by Salem's Lot and The Strain, Midnight Mass has plenty of potential.
However like The Haunting of Bly Manor this director drags all of that potential down into the muck with endless monologues and tedious, trite philosophy.
Ultimately what should be a fun Halloween horror series has few thrills and almost no scares. Instead you can spend 12 minutes listening to a character give a speech on what happens when you die (literally). Then another shows up to spend 10 minutes talking about religion. Then they all start singing.
If being cornered at a party by a self-impressed blowhard who just finished intro to philosophy sounds like fun, then have I got a show for you. Otherwise just rewatch Pet Semetary.
