Sarasota FL 12/12/24. If you are an average Joe and don't know much about or have an ear for music you might like this show. If you have a keen ear and enjoy good music you won't think much of this production.
Male singers were pretty good overall, but the female singers try as they might were off key and mediocre at best. The sound system was not good at all - I mean if you didn't know the words to the song, you'd have no idea what they were singing - a muddled, scratchy sound system. Prior to intermission the band though good was over powering the singers - maybe that was to drown out the singers performances?? They did appear to tweak it after intermission, but that was a little late to be balancing the volume between band and singers. And the last song they did - an apparent last minute throw in Christmas song was horrible - pitchy does not cover it - it was down right off key - worse than a amateur performance. Overall if you like Motown music and can't carry a tune in a bucket you might like this performance - many in the audience did, but I must say about 25%-35% of the seats were empty after intermission which tells you something. For the price we paid, we stayed till the end, but after that last number we may have been better off leaving at the intermission with the rest of audience.
