Movies that tackle the current state of the world are always thought provoking, but this left much to be desired. Some of the critique is that it never lands on exactly what's going on. This is fine. However, instead of that approach being done in a way that was thought provoking, it ended up feeling frustrating at every single turn. This had the potential to be such a great movie (the use of sound, the cinematography
!) but each piece of the movie that was intriguing and kept you at the edge of your seat always left you feeling let down. Doing this once in a while in a movie with a good ending, might cause you to brush it off and forgive those moments. However, this movie does it at every turn, and with a subpar ending, it ends up leaving you feeling irritated and annoyed.
On the other end, while the movie Don't Look Up is satire and hilariously ridiculous, it does a phenomenal job with social commentary and being thought provoking. And the ending? shocking and beautifully done.
