The World of Animation

To be honest, I actually didn't like this movie. Not because I thought it was bad, far from it. I actually consider this movie to be very well done in it of itself. However, I tend to critique movies not based on what they are, but how they make me feel. Personally, the loud and over the top singing and dancing from the cast of kids especially came off as very overwhelming and discomforting to me. And the fact that there seemed to be dozens of kids on screen doing these loud songs and dances didn't help either. Although I acknowledge they were all doing a great job on camera, the way it was all presented was visually and emotionally overwhelming to my senses, and it started to generate intrusive thoughts in my head that made me feel upset. There's just something I find very off putting about big, over the top, musical numbers like the ones in Matilda the Musical that makes me really dislike them, even if everything about them is done right. I know there is a large crowd for this movie, and rightfully so, but although Matilda the Musical is a great movie, it made me feel uncomfortable and overwhelmed on a deep, personal level. And for that reason, I didn't like Matilda the Musical at all.

I watched all of the bad reviews, heard all of the rants, and yet despite that, Balan Wonderworld was a glorious experience in my opinion. It certainly had some issues, I did find it a little shady and repetitive, but its bright contrasting colors, compelling characters, engaging locations, catchy music track and heart warming story were more than enough to make up for them.
