I’ll preface by saying I did not read the books, which I am sure are way more interesting and engaging - as books usually are. But this movie was a fail. An absolutely tragedy in film making. Rushed, thin plot, superficial themes, predictable storyline, poor character development. This film managed to fail in the most basic areas. Sad account for the actual decent acting that was portrayed. The only thing that kept me watching was wanting to see the end result of what she actually looked like after her surgery. I’m surprised they even left this open for a sequel. I don’t think it will even happen given then consensus of bad reviews across the film critique spectrum. Every once in a blue you watch a movie that will disappoint and underwhelm, this was mine for 2024.
