This book was 1st published in the 1970's. It was written and illustrated by Bus Griffiths, an original hi lead logger of the pacific coast who logged prior to the invention of steel spars when trees had to be topped and rigged and cables spliced all by hand. At around 120 pages the book is a short read however every picture can and does speak a thousand words. Following the simple text and the many detailed illustrations a young person could easily learn to log the way it was once done. The book is more than that though, it inspires with it's depiction of the will, courage, gumption and guts of a young workforce living in the 30's. Today's young workforce are growing up in a world where physical labor is preformed by robotics which eventually will take over most physical labor. In this setting this book is an historical treasure. Spending 8 hours a day in a gym could never do for our headspace what this lifestyle did for these people living in those times.
